World Health Organisation has released their estimates from 2014 where they concluded there are 1.9 billion adults (18 years and older) in the world who are overweight and out of that, 600 million are obese. Thus, they draw a conclusion that between 1980 and 2014, number of overweight people has doubled. Worldwide, at least 2.8 million DIE each year as a result of being overweight or obese. What also seem to be the trend is that people are also experiencing more stress. When it comes to this two problems it is well-known that one can pull another and thus some of the complications are the same. Therefore, there is a common solution to both problems, exercise.
By exercising you burn calories which make you lose weight while on the other hand, exercising release endorphins also known as feel-good chemicals, which further relief you from stress. Benefits of exercising are multiple.
As little as 30 minutes per day of exercise can help you burn more calories than what you take in. Thus, helping you removing those extra calories and make you lose weight. The fact is that weight pulls the physical stress on your body, and while there is no certain answer on whether this stress can translate into mental one, I sure get quite upset when I can hardly walk that one more mile, bike uphill, or climb to the 5th floor when the elevator is broken. Choosing an exercise is not that important and you can do whatever is your favourite. The most important thing is getting active and shredding those extra few pounds.
Endorphins are the chemical which is causing the “runner’s high”. Up to several hours after going for a run you will still feel good. This is because exercising release endorphins. They are slightly similar to morphine, and thus help you relieve stress.
Once exercising becomes a part of your routine, no matter which days of the week you exercise, endorphins start releasing more often and stress relieving benefits come more often. This means that there will be a longer good feeling and not just during your workout. Exercise is also somewhat therapeutic. It helps you blow off steam, and little everyday frustrations are going away. To us, this seems as a way better alternative than building up your frustration.
Choosing a healthy manner of doing things is much better. This include getting rid of frustration. You won’t be needing questionable and thus, potentially dangerous medications, or even engage in arguments and risky behaviour caused by stress. The simple formula goes as follows: Bigger amount of stress, more intensive workout. And in case that you would like to reduce your overall amount of stress, choose your routine and exercises you would like and do it on a regular basis. You will be healthier both physically and mentally.
