If you avoid cow’s milk, in health food stores, you can purchase some of the herb milks. But you can also try to make the milk of almonds, cashews and the like. Homemade – rest assured, it will be cheaper and better than buying.

Milk of almonds

This milk has a lot of protein, important minerals and healthy fats; In fact, it is the perfect protein shake. For half a litre, you need:

  • ½ cup raw almonds
  • 1 and ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 dry dates (pitted)

Soak the almonds in water and leave to stand for 6-8 hours, then drain. Put all ingredients in blender and grind at high speed until the mixture becomes smooth. Then strain through cheesecloth. It can be kept in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 36 hours.

Milk from cashew nuts

An excellent source of potassium and proteins. For half a litre, you need:

  • 2/3 cup raw cashew nuts
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 tablespoons good quality cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of Himalayan salt
  • 1 dry date palm pitted

Cashew cover with water and leave it the way it is 4 hours, then drain. Put all ingredients in a blender and grind until the mixture becomes smooth. Pour into a jar with a lid and close. Can be kept in the refrigerator up to 36 hours.

Milk from hemp seeds

Hemp seed is a great source of essential fatty acids and proteins. For half a litre, you need:

  • ½ cup of hemp seeds
  • 2 dried dates, pitted
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Put all ingredients in blender and grind until the mixture becomes smooth. Pour into a jar, close the lid and refrigerate. It should stay for up to 36 hours before it’s consumed.
